Nampak Corrugated improves on award winning carton
Johannesburg, Friday May 5: The Halls avocado carton is proof that Nampak Corrugated, a division of Africa's largest packaging company, has a continuous drive to supply their customers with the best packaging possible.
In 2005, this carton won an award at Goldpack for printing excellence. In their commitment to continuously improve, Nampak Corrugated realised that there were ways to make this carton that it would be enhanced in order to better suit their customers' needs.
Physically the triangles on the corner of the cartons were enlarged to ensure better top to bottom strength of the overall carton. The stacking lugs were also lengthened to make the pallet load more stable during transportation.
The Bobst Masterflex 2000, a machine able to print up to seven colours on a corrugated carton, is responsible for the appealing graphics visable on the new avocado carton. An EB Flute was also used, as opposed to the BE Flute, resulting in a more professional and attention-grabbing photo-like finish to the cartons.
"At Nampak Corrugated we understand the importance of continuous innovation within our market. So many customers have the mislead belief that a corrugated carton is merely a "big brown box", but with the introduction of machines like Masterflex it becomes so much more than that. A carton now has the capacity to become a striking point of sale piece, and even a portable billboard," says Nampak Corrugated Managing Director Willie Wiese.
Nampak has recently re-positioned themselves as a company that strives towards ‘packaging excellence'. The fact that Nampak Corrugated improved on a carton that had already won an award at Goldpack confirms their commitment to making packaging excellence happen.
