Nampak Rigid Plastics remains the forerunner in the rigid plastics packaging industry

As Africa’s largest rigid plastics packaging company, Nampak Rigid Plastics is continually striving to be forerunners in the dairy industry. To achieve this they are constantly launching new products that meet with ever changing consumer desires. Their wide range of packaging includes HDPE and PET bottles, fibre-board Pure-Pak® cartons, closures, crates, drums and now IBCs.

Nampak Liquid Carton’s new Fruitime pack
The new Fruitime 330ml Pure-pak, mini diamond curve carton with screw-cap is produced by Nampak Liquid Cartons in Isithebe and are UV flexo printed on a CPS printing press. Fruitime see a general trend towards carton in this beverage category and this carton was designed to meet consumer demand for a smaller container, while providing a longer shelf-life, opening possible future export opportunities.

Nampak Liquid’s new Tropika Fizz bottle
Top dairy/fruit brand Tropika has introduced Tropika Fizz – a sparkling orange flavoured carbonated soft drink in two-litre and 500ml bottles. The Tropika bottle design was subjected to FEA (Finite Element Analysis, [Status]) at Nampak’s R&D facility and scored highly in both its top load and burst strength scores. The PET bottles are produced by Nampak Petpak in Isando and the 28mm Super Shorty Tropika screw caps are produced by Nampak Closures in Mobeni.

Nampak Megapak introduces intermediate bulk containers
Another addition to Nampak’s stable takes the form of 1000 litre Intermediate bulk containers (IBCs, [Status]) manufactured by NP Megapak in Pinetown. IBCs are used to store and transport large quantities of liquids. Nampak Megapak assembles the steel support cages, and blow moulds the HDPE composite IBC bottles. The IBCs are then fitted with components such as valves and taps according to the customers’ needs. The valves are interchangeable and replaceable on the Nampak Megapak containers and are not welded in. Megapak uses world class materials, construction and quality standards and has technical support from partners National Container Group (NCG, [Status]) and Mauser. NCG and Mauser also have global footprints which allows for recycling, reconditioning and repairs of IBCs anywhere in the world that they may be transported to.
