Keeping the parks clean for kids

As part of the annual Clean-up South Africa (SA, [Status]) Week, Collect-a-Can and Nampak Bevcan hosted Recycling Day activities at Nkanyezi Recreational Sports Centre in Moroka North, Soweto.

The City of Joburg, Standard Chartered Bank, Emergency Management Services, the Zondi Buy-Back Centre as well as community members all joined in the initiative as they cleaned-up the streets around the park.

“We are thrilled about the support we received from the community and very grateful to everyone who gave their time and energy to make this event such a success,” said Zimasa Velaphi, Public Relations and Marketing Manager of Collect-a-Can.

Recycling Day reached its peak when volunteers and community members were entertained and inspired to recycle by renowned Kwaito King, Arthur Mafokate and the Queen of Dance, Chomee.

Recycling Day is celebrated annually across South Africa to raise awareness with the general public about the importance of cleaning up litter and recycling in South Africa. Back to top ^
